Vision for EQuality Speaks Out Against Abuse!!

Four adults with disabilities were found in deplorable conditions, locked in a barren basement of an apartment building on Longshore Street in Northeast Phildelphia on Saturday, October 15, 2011. Sunday morning while reading the paper and hearing the news VFE received dozens of calls about this heinous situtaiton. As Citizens of Philadelphia we are appalled about the way these individuals were treated and how they were kept locked in a room with two dogs, no food or water and in intolerable, unsanitary conditions against their free will. Fortunately these people were found alive; a few years ago a woman died in the basement of her home due to her drug addicted sister’s neglect.
Vision for EQuality works for social justice for all people. We believe people should be treated with dignity and respect and have a safe home like everyone else in their community. We are outraged that anyone would treat human beings in this manner. The people responsible for these heinous misdeeds must be brought to justice and punished for their crimes.
