Self Advocates United as 1 (SAU1) presents a Family Day of Self-Determination &Leadership Development Activity

- Self-Determination Training:
- Have you thought about how you want ot live and the services you need? That means you want to use Self-Determination! In this free training, you will learn from people with disabilities about:
- the fight for people's rights
- a way to think about how you want to live
- steps to become a self-determined person
- You will be able to ask questions and have fun as you learn about Self-Determination. Join us!
- Parents, brothers, sisters and caregivers will also learn about Self-Determination or their loved one.
FREE LUNCH will be provided in between Trainings 12-1 PM
Leadership Development Activity
- 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm - Learn about Self Determination, a way to think about how you want to live. Learn the principles of Self Determination and how you can have choice and control in your life. You will find out the steps to take to become a self-determined person.
- 1 - 2:30 pm: Everyone will come together to talk about self determination.
- Let's talk about:
- Making choices for myself and how can others help
- Supporting your loved ones to use their voice
- How to help me advocate independence

The Many Faces of Abuse
a FREE Family Training presented by Vision for EQuality, Inc.
Training provided by the PA Training Partnership for People with Disabilities and Families

Vulnerable populations, such as children, the elderly and people with disabilities are disproportionately targets of abuse. Physical abuse. Emotional abuse. Financial abuse. Sexual abuse. This two-part training for family members will discuss the different types of abuse and warning signs. The goal of the training is to reduce the risk of abuse, any type of abuse, in the lives of people with disabilities. This interactive training will build awareness of the many faces of abuse, how to recognize abuse, and how to support someone who has been abused.

Live Webinar: Partnering to make services easier to use for Latino families with CYCHCN: An Example from Pennsylvania
Recent evidence from the 2009 - 2010 National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs showed that children from monolingual Spanish speaking families are having more difficulty accessing services than their English-speaking counterparts. This presentation will highlight unique programs being used by Salud Para Ninos, American Academy of Pediatrics, PA Chapter, and Vision for EQuality and provide concrete examples of how partnering between these organizations has helped to deliver more efficient and effective community-based services for Latino families in Pennsylvania.
This webinar is a collaborative effort bvetween the National Center for Ease of Use and Community-Based Services, American Academy of Pediatrics, Salud Para Ninos, American Adcademy of Pediatrics, PA Chapter, and Vision for EQuality. The three presenters are speaking on behalf of the broader collaboration between PA Chapter AAP, PA Title V, and PA Family to Family guarantee (PEAL).
