PHAN – Hsabree@visionforequality.org Self Advocates United as One – Smccloskey@visionforequality.org It is our belief that education and awareness are the best way to prevent and protect our loved ones against the spread of HIV and AIDS. Our Preventing HIV/AIDS Network is sponsored by Vision for Equality, Inc. and funded through a grant by the AIDS Activities Coordinating Office of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. The skills-based curriculum includes lecture materials, discussion, films, games, role play and repetition. Participants’ sense of pride, self-confidence and self-respect will be encouraged and reinforced as they go through the program. New for 2007-2008 is the testing that is available at the time of training. Testing is voluntary and confidential. Qualified agencies provide testing, diagnoses and counseling. This program is presented with sensitivity to the concerns of individuals with developmental disabilities, family members, staff and people living with HIV/AIDS. We look forward to dispelling myths and teaching people with disabilities the facts about HIV/AIDS prevention and risk reduction. Trainers are certified by the AIDS Activities Coordination Office of the City of Philadelphia.
