DESCRIPTION:This is a gentle form of yoga that can be done while sitting. It can improve your flexibility\, concentration and strength\, while boosting your mood\, and reducing stress and joint strain. Taught by Megan Do Nascimento: She is a Philadelphia native who studied dance at the High School for Creative and Performing Arts and Spanish at Temple University. She first practiced yoga while undergoing treatment for breast cancer six years ago. Yoga became a safe space that allowed Megan to disconnect from treatment and feel power. SUMMARY:Early Education Staff- What to Know\, What to Say\, and How to Support Children with Disabilities
DESCRIPTION:The Philadelphia Family Support Projects at Vision for Equality would like to invite Philadelphia early education staff and leaders in to a virtual learning and collaboration opportunity. We help families find and navigate supports and services for their loved ones with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD)\, including autism such as applying for medical assistance\, finding a preschool or daycare\, applying for waivers\, or acquiring supports in their homes like home health services and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).  We also provide individual peer support\, support group meetings\, and trainings for caregivers. \nWe would like to support you as your organization as you create inclusive settings for all children to learn and thrive. As such\, we are offering a free workshop for your team. \nWhat to Know\, What to Say\, and How to Support Children with Disabilities will cover: \n\nHow to understand disability through the models of disability.\nHow to foster a sense of belonging in your classroom.\nHow inclusion benefits everyone.\nHow to talk about disability with your students.\nHow to facilitate full participation for all students (and the resources available to support you in that).\nHow to refer families for additional support.\n\n  \nThis workshop will be offered twice\, but you only have to register once.
