The PA Family Network was created under the leadership of Vision for Equality and is supported by the Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) as part of Pennsylvania’s Community of Practice: Supporting Families Throughout the Lifespan. The mission of the Pennsylvania Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) is to support Pennsylvanians with developmental disabilities to achieve greater independence, choice and opportunity in their lives.
PA Family Network Family Advisors are located across Pennsylvania and are all people with disabilities or family members. Through our peer-peer workshops, mentoring services, and systems navigation we help families learn what they need to know and do, across the lifespan, to develop the supports and services needed to achieve an Everyday Life for the WHOLE family.
In 2016, ODP joined the national Community of Practice: Supporting Families throughout the Lifespan. The Community of Practice initiative involves working to transform state policies, practices and systems to better assist and support families that include a member with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. The goal of the collaboration is to support families in ways that maximize their capacity to facilitate the achievement of self-determination, integration and inclusion in all facets of community life for their family members.
The core belief of the Community of Practice: Supporting Families throughout the lifespan…
“All people and their families have the right to live, love, work, play, learn, and pursue their life aspirations in their community”
To support ODP and the major elements of the Community of Practice goals, the PA Family Network was created under the leadership of Vision for Equality.

The Family Advisor can meet with a family, individual or small group of families at their convenience.
